About Gigg Lane Shakers supporters are always left somewhat bemused when opposition fans taunt them over the standard of the Gigg Lane stadium. Although it has only been filled to capacity on a handful of occasions since its redevelopment, Gigg Lane is now a smart new all-seated arena, one of the best in the lower divisions. The final piece in Chairman Terry Robinson's jigsaw was the completion of the new Cemetery End stand for use by Shakers fans from August 2000. This development saw the stadium capacity increase to almost 11,500 after the club raised enough cash to supplement the Football Trust grant which enabled the stand to be built.
