Notts. County 1 Bury 0 After this, their second poor away defeat in a matter of days, disappointed Shakers manager Andy Preece is determined to help his side back on the goal trail, even if that means adding himself to the starting line-up in an attempt to kickstart Bury's promotion campaign. Preece himself has yet to score this season, but the player-manager feels that a change is needed to get the goals flowing again. That starts on Saturday afternoon with the visit of Bournemouth to Gigg Lane, as after this match at Meadow Lane, Preece reflected that "There were four gilt edged chances to open the scoring but we never took one of them." "We got thumped 4-0 at Millwall on Saturday but we went out last night and for the first 60 minutes we dominated the game," Preece added in the Bolton Evening News tonight. "Unfortunately the result also shows just how poor our finishing is at the moment," Preece then explained. It seems likely too that the Shakers front line will see another experimental combination on Saturday as the boss becomes impatient with the lack of firepower in the side. "I haven't had a good run up front this season, nor has Lutel James. Maybe it's our turn to see what we can do" he warned. Once again though however, the boss remained quite pleased with the performance despite it being a second consecutive loss for the Shakers. He said, "I can't go into the dressing room and have a go at the players because they are still doing things right." "If you look at how we did tonight you can't question the character in the side." As a result, the manager is remaining calm, explaining away Bury's current barren spell as a period of bad luck. "I don't think we've used any of our luck this season," he said to the Bolton Evening News, while Saturday's game with Bournemouth sees the Shakers return home to Gigg Lane empty-handed after a testing week away, and Preece hopes his side's promotion bid will be firmly back on track come Saturday evening. He said, "I'm not going to get down about it" "We've lost two matches but haven't lost a lot of ground."
