Match Report

Wycombe Wanderers 2 Bury 1
Nationwide League Division 2
Saturday 11th November 2000

Though Bury manager Andy Preece reshaped his team, dropping himself, and introduced an adventurous 3-4-3 system, it was ultimately to no avail as the Shakers conceded a goal in the dying seconds to lose their sixth league game in the last seven.

Once again it all looked so bright for Bury as they dominated large periods of the game, and played some decent football, but they still lack the vital cutting edge. It was immedialtely after Adrian Littlejohn had missed a sitter that, against the run of play, Jamie Bates blasted home a free kick to give Wycombe the lead. Parity was restored by a Paul Reid penalty, and Bury looked to headed for at least a draw until Bates once again forced the ball into the net to leave Bury empty handed.
